alliantgroup’s Economic, Legislative & Policy Summit—the latest event in alliantgroup’s ThinkTank series—was held June 29-30 in Houston, attracting a number of tax influencers, politicians, and CPA firms.

The annual event provides economic and policy experts a platform to forecast anticipated legislative action. The sessions serve as a forum to discuss U.S. economic performance and broad tax issues to emerge in 2015 and 2016.

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) delivered the keynote address. Some highlights of this insightful session included:

• According to the senator, partisan infighting on Capitol Hill was the main reason for the delay on last year’s tax extenders bill.
• This had a diminishing effect on the R&D Tax Credit and 179D deduction.
• Grassley called upon Congress and the administration to take a more bipartisan approach when pushing legislation through Congress.
Through its Think Tank series, alliantgroup strives to provide thought leadership to its partner CPA firms and the businesses they serve. Read more about alliantgroup’s Economic, Legislative & Policy Summit.
